Advanced Technologies

The field of dentistry is continually evolving. Berardi Dentistry prides itself on offering the latest in dental technology, and in staying abreast of the newest research and techniques for you. Some of the advanced tools and techniques we offer include:

Digital X-Rays and Dental Imaging Software

We use these tools to detect cavities between your teeth, and to look for cysts, tumors, abscesses and other signs of dental disease. Some of the benefits of using digital x-rays are:

•    Less exposure to x-rays and radiation. Digital x-rays take 1/3 the time of x-rays.
•    Easier, faster storage and transfering of files to specialists or insurance companies.
•    The digital image appears on our monitor within three seconds of taking the x-ray.

Intraoral Cameras and Chairside Monitors

The intraoral camera allows you to become an active participant during your dental examination. It definitely validates the saying, “a picture is worth a thousand words.”
By showing you what we see inside your mouth, it helps you understand our recommendations and make more informed dental decisions.

Soft Tissue Laser

This exciting technological advance can be used on gum and other soft tissue in the mouth. We can use this tool to perform biopsies, remove excess gum tissue, or reduce bacteria around a tooth that is suffering from gum disease.

VELscope®: The Oral Cancer Screening System

Watch our oral cancer screening video on this page to learn more.

Until recently, the dental profession was without an instrument that could help with the early detection of oral cancer. The VELscope® examination is part of our annual check-ups for patients ages 21 and older. It takes only minutes to perform. However, it can help us see early signs of oral cancer that can save lives.

The VELscope® emits a blue-green fluorescent light that causes normal, healthy tissue to remain green under the light. Under this same light, pre-cancerous or malignant tissue will appear irregular and dark, allowing it to stand out. This lets us ensure we take preventative action.

Watch our video about the VELscope and our oral cancer screening program.
